Band Director

Mr. Thomas Dubbert

We are thrilled to announce Mr. Thomas Dubbert as the first Band Director for our Wellen Park High School music program! 

Mr. Dubbert is a Charlotte County native and graduate of Port Charlotte High School, now in his 9th year as an educator. He has taught in Charlotte, Lee, and Sarasota counties and currently serves as Band Director at Woodland Middle School in North Port.

He earned his bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University and his Master’s in Music Education from Bowling Green State University in 2022. Mr. Dubbert also serves as the Associate Director at Charlotte High School in Punta Gorda, where he works closely with the marching band.

A proud alumnus of the Bluecoats Drum and Bugle Corps and Ohio State Athletic Bands, Mr. Dubbert brings a wealth of experience and passion to his work. Under his direction, the Woodland Middle School band program has grown to over 230 students—representing 20% of the school’s population—and consistently earns superior ratings in Concert, Jazz, and individual performances. His students have achieved honors at the All-State Concert, Jazz, and Honor Bands every year of his tenure.

Outside the classroom, Mr. Dubbert enjoys life with his wife Kendice and their two children, Kyler (7) and Tynley (5), who are both excited to be part of “Daddy’s new band” family here at Wellen Park! 

Mr. Dubbert shared that he is “excited to start this journey at Wellen Park, developing new traditions, respecting and continuing important former traditions, and building a strong, positive culture within the school and band program.”
